(Updated in line with the Care Act 2014)
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards were introduced in 2009 and are part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). The safeguards are used to protect the rights of people who lack the ability to make certain decisions for themselves and make sure that their freedom is not inappropriately restricted.
Our combined Mental Capacity Awareness and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard course is aimed at everyone working in health and social care sector that makes decisions for people who may lack capacity and who require a knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and, specifically, the issue of deprivation of liberty safeguards.
